Sometimes the office isn’t where the words come. Sometimes you need to feel your feet on the earth, the air on your skin, your body in motion, the sky overhead first, before the rest of you can open up.

What is Walk & Talk Therapy?

Walk & Talk therapy is exactly what it sounds like: we walk, and we talk. And something about that combination — the movement, the side-by-side instead of face-to-face, the simple act of being held by the natural world — tends to unlock things that sitting still doesn’t.

Why It Works

Movement activates the nervous system in a way that supports healing. Walking engages bilateral stimulation, the same left-right rhythm that underlies EMDR. Which helps the brain integrate and release. Nature has its own regulating energy. Being side-by-side, rather than across from each other, often makes it easier to say the things that are hardest to say.

There’s something ancient about walking alongside someone you trust. The body knows it. For many women, Walk & Talk feels less like therapy and more like finally having the conversation they’ve needed to have.

This Might Be For You If

  • You feel restless or closed off in a traditional office setting

  • You process better when your body is moving

  • Being outside helps you feel more grounded and open

  • Face-to-face conversation feels intense and you’d like a gentler entry point

  • You’re already drawn to nature as a place where something in you exhales

Walk & Talk sessions cover the same ground as traditional sessions — we just cover it while moving.

What Sessions Are Like

We meet at the office or a designated outdoor location near downtown Fort Worth. Sessions are 50 minutes. The pace is yours; we’re not here to exercise, we’re here to heal.

Weather and accessibility are always considered. If a walk doesn’t feel right on a given day, we can adapt.

About Joann

I’m Joann and Walk & Talk Therapy is one of my favorite ways to work — because I’ve felt it myself.

I love being outside — hiking, taking in what the natural world offers, letting it work on me. There’s something that happens when you’re moving through the world with someone steady beside you. The body relaxes in a different way, and things become more possible.

If this sounds like your way in, I’d love to walk with you.
