If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’re tired in a way that doesn’t go away with sleep. Work, relationships, the sheer pace of life adds up, and somewhere in there, you lost track of what you feel, what you want, what makes you feel alive.

You are not broken. You’re not failing at anything.
You’re carrying too much, for too long.
It makes sense that you’re feeling it in your body.

I work with women who are ready to come back home to themselves;
in their bodies, and in their relationships.

What is Somatic Experiencing?

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-oriented approach developed by Dr. Peter Levine, built on decades of studying how animals naturally recover from threat, and why people often don’t.

When something overwhelming happens, your nervous system can get stuck in survival mode; freeze, fight, flight, or fawn. Long after the moment has passed. Talk therapy helps you understand what happened. SE helps your body finish what it couldn’t finish, so the tension, overwhelm, and old protective patterns don’t have to keep running the show.

In session, we slow down and gently notice what’s happening in your body; a tightness in the chest, a held breath, a subtle pull to move or pull away. Through this slow, careful work, your nervous system starts to find its way back to regulation. Women often describe it as relief, as release, as finally feeling like themselves again.

Who I Work With

I work with women navigating:

  • Trauma (single-event, relational, developmental, or complex)

  • Anxiety, panic, and chronic stress

  • Depression and emotional numbness

  • Disconnection from desire, pleasure, or intimacy

  • Life transitions and identity shifts

  • Physical symptoms connected to nervous system dysregulation

You don’t need a diagnosis or a story that feels “big enough.”
If something in you feels stuck — in your body, your relationships, or your life — that’s enough of a reason to begin.

What Sessions Are Like

We go at your pace. There’s no pressure to perform healing, no reliving things before you’re ready, and no one right way to do this work.

Many women notice shifts they didn’t expect — less reactivity, more ease in their body, a quiet steadiness that wasn’t there before. Long-standing patterns start to loosen. You begin to feel less like you’re just functioning, and more like you’re actually here.

Sessions are available both in person and online, so you can work in whatever environment feels safest to start.

About Joann

I’m Joann, and I came to Somatic Experiencing the way a lot of us do — through my own healing.

I know what it’s like to carry something in your body that words alone never quite reached. That’s what drew me to this work, and it’s still what keeps me here.

I’ve completed three years of professional training through Somatic Experiencing International, and I bring both clinical grounding and deep personal understanding into every session.

My approach is warm and direct. I’ll meet you where you are, hold steady alongside you, and trust that your body already knows the way forward. We’ll just find it together.

If this sounds like what you’ve been needing, I’d love to talk.
